Supplier Quality Engineer – Sustaining

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Taiwan.

📋 Description

• Perform supplier evaluations and conduct on-site audits to confirm the effectiveness of supplier quality systems and overall capabilities.

• Engage in the Hardware Product Development Process, collaborating with Manufacturing & Design Engineers to offer insights and recommendations for manufacturing processes and quality plans, ensuring suppliers are equipped for high-quality production at scale.

• Execute First Article Inspections and Surveillance Audits to verify that suppliers comply with the company's design engineering and quality standards, while also maintaining a strong quality control and assurance program.

• Lead quality planning efforts during both pre- and post-production phases and facilitate 8D/SCAR activities with the supplier network to guarantee that the outgoing quality from suppliers is adequate, thereby reducing the necessity for incoming inspections at Skydio.

• Manage supplier scorecards to evaluate quality performance and promote continuous improvements within the Skydio supplier network, aiming for zero defects.

⛳️ Requirements

• You possess experience in establishing and managing suppliers both locally and internationally.

• You have a background in quality engineering related to high-volume, complex consumer electronics or automotive products, along with extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes (including metal casting, sheet metal forming & stamping, injection molding, composites, coating technologies, displays, cameras, wiring harness), measurement and inspection methods, reliability, and statistical process control.

• You are knowledgeable about GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and can interpret and understand intricate drawings.

• You are experienced with quality tools such as Failure Modes Effect Analysis (FMEA), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), 8D, Root Cause Analysis techniques (including 5-Why and fishbone diagrams), and Statistical Process Control (SPC), and have successfully achieved measurable outcomes using these tools.

• You exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• You are open to traveling to suppliers as needed (30-40%).
