This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develops and evaluates utility substation drawings, which encompass General Arrangements, Elevations, Cable and Conduit Plans, Grounding Plans, AC/DC Schematics, panel elevations, electrical equipment enclosure plans, wiring diagrams, specifications, and reports.
• Serves as a technical leader, employing standard engineering techniques and procedures for moderately complex projects.
• Plans, organizes, conducts, and/or coordinates detailed phases of assigned project tasks.
• Makes design recommendations, adaptations, and modifications related to utility substations.
• Performs calculations utilizing engineering formulas and expertise.
• Engages in resolving design challenges, including field investigations or observations and thorough quality control (QC) reviews of design calculations.
• Coordinates specific design elements of a project, demonstrating the ability to plan, schedule, conduct, and communicate tasks with team members.
• Provides technical mentoring to fellow engineers.
• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is mandatory.
• Graduation from an ABET accredited program or its equivalent is required.
• A PE License is highly preferred.
• A minimum of 4 years of engineering experience is essential.
• Prior experience in physical design or protection and control design of electrical power substations is required.
• Competent in reviewing and producing design drawings, including General Arrangements, Elevations, Cable and Conduit Plans, Grounding Plans, Physical Connection Details, AC/DC schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Ability to conduct AC & DC substation studies is necessary.
• Familiarity with ground grid modeling software is advantageous.
• Knowledge of substation protection and control schemes is beneficial.
• Understanding of basic relay settings is a plus.
• Awareness of the National Electric Code (NEC) is desirable.
• Knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) is beneficial.
• Familiarity with the Rural Utilities Service (RUS) design guide is a plus.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
