This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Develop comprehensive substation (Air & GIS) switchyard design packages, which include operating single line diagrams, layouts, sections, bus calculations/selections, ground grids, cable trays/trenches/duct banks, lighting solutions, lightning protection, prefabricated control building layouts, AC/DC station service supply, voltage drop calculations, conduit/cable tray fill, and bills of materials, among others.
• Create detailed protection and control design packages for substations, encompassing single line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
• Design renewable energy collector systems, including medium voltage systems with switchgear, transformers, AC/DC inverters, power cables, AC/DC distribution systems, PV plants, battery energy storage systems, and wind turbines for both solar and wind projects.
• Collaborate with internal and external team members such as electrical engineers, designers, drafters, and project managers, taking ownership of projects to fulfill and surpass client expectations.
• Assist in the development of standards, optimizations, and processes while providing execution plans with a strong follow-through.
• A minimum of a diploma or bachelor's degree in drafting or electrical design.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil3D, and/or AutoCAD Map3D in power delivery (transmission and distribution systems for utilities or industrial), renewable energy, or power generation.
• Proficient CAD skills, with experience in utilizing layers, blocks, XREFs, coordinate systems, annotations, and dimensioning, adhering to company and industry drafting standards.
• Must have authorization for full-time work in Canada.
• Capability to work on multi-discipline projects.
• Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
• Strong computer proficiency; skilled in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, with advanced MS Office capabilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work cross-functionally to comprehend requirements, present alternatives, and propose recommendations.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Experience in 3D modeling is a plus.
• Familiarity with PVcase and PVCAD is advantageous.
• Knowledge of the renewable energy sector concerning utility-scale wind and solar projects, including MV power systems and AC/DC distribution systems, is a plus.
• Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems is a bonus.
• Understanding of relevant industry codes and standards, including ANSI/IEEE, NESC, NEC, and CSA, is beneficial.
• Manufacturer experience with power transformers, circuit breakers, AIS/GIS switchgear, AC/DC inverters, etc., is a plus.
