CAD Designer III

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Creates designs for intricate engineering systems, structures, and plant configurations with minimal oversight.

• Verifies appropriate dimensioning, completeness of material quantities and specifications, and design requirements in accordance with regulatory and industry standards.

• Plans and implements the presentation of arrangements using AutoCAD Plant 3D.

• Gathers, interprets, and utilizes relevant reference documents and drawings produced by other disciplines, vendors, or external sources.

• Ensures adherence to established design standards to ensure quality design, safety, constructability, reliable operation, cost-effectiveness in construction, and operational convenience.

• Reviews and scrutinizes calculations, design models, drawings, and design documentation for quality, precision, neatness, functionality, and satisfactory completion.

• Assists colleagues in compiling bid, approval, and construction issue drawing packages.

• Capable of producing a 2D model, multiple view drawings, and details. Must be able to integrate mechanical 3D background drawings created by others.

• This is primarily a remote position with limited in-office requirements in Canonsburg, PA.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in designing Natural Gas facilities.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD P&ID, AutoCAD Plant 3D, and Navisworks. Experience in 3D drafting/design is preferred, particularly in mechanical disciplines.

• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Infrastructure Design suite is advantageous.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Ability to analyze data to provide information for the development of recommendations and alternatives.

• An associate degree in an engineering or scientific field, or completion of specialized courses in drafting, design, and engineering practices.

• Specialized training in drafting, design, and engineering practices.

• Experience in drafting and designing mechanical/piping or civil drawings for the construction and documentation of natural gas compression, dehydration, and measurement facilities.

• Responsible for sizing and specifying necessary design components by researching information through company personnel, historical records, field visits, technical publications, regulatory and industry codes, and vendor materials as directed by the design engineer or CAD Design Manager.

• Collects, interprets, and utilizes related reference documents and drawings generated by other disciplines, vendors, or external sources.

• Ensures compliance with approved design standards to guarantee quality design, safety, constructability, reliable operation, cost-effective construction, and operational convenience.

• Reviews and checks calculations, design models, drawings, and design documents for quality, accuracy, neatness, functionality, and satisfactory completion.

• When feasible, assists the Design Engineer with engineering tasks while adhering to approved design standards to ensure quality design, safety, constructability, reliable operation, cost-effectiveness in construction, and operational convenience.
