This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Assist in the design and development of Protection & Control systems for high-voltage substations, including both AIS and GIS types.
• Create and update P&C design documentation, such as single-line and three-line diagrams, DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and communication schematics.
• Aid engineers in preparing engineering design packages and associated deliverables.
• Ensure that all drawings and deliverables adhere to relevant industry standards like IEEE, NERC, NEC, and NESC, as well as specific client requirements.
• Carry out redlines, updates, and modifications to existing drawings per engineering feedback.
• Contribute to project teams by assisting with schedules, deliverables, and coordination initiatives.
• Help develop and organize documentation for relays and control panels.
• Engage in QA/QC reviews to verify the accuracy and completeness of design packages.
• Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, SCADA, and field services, to ensure seamless project execution.
• Provide assistance for field operations, such as site visits, FATs, and the creation of as-built documentation as needed.
• An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Design, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline is preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in substation design, particularly focused on Protection & Control systems.
• Proven experience in developing P&C drawings for high-voltage substations.
• Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar tools.
• Knowledgeable about substation components, including relays, batteries, chargers, control panels, and SCADA interfaces.
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards such as IEEE, NEC, and NESC.
• Capable of interpreting and applying engineering markups and redlines into final design drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and a dedication to delivering high-quality outputs.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and adhere to project deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent communication skills and the capability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
