Structural Design Engineer – Renewables

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assisting in the development of structural designs and drawings for solar foundations and support structures.

• Conducting research on project specifications to identify applicable building codes, ensuring that specific project requirements are incorporated into the design.

• Preparing calculations and drawings in accordance with project specifications while adhering to departmental and relevant standards.

• Collaborating with internal multidisciplinary teams to address any structural-related issues or concerns.

• Providing drafting support utilizing AutoCAD for structural design plans.

• Assisting with deep foundation design, inspection, pile design, foundation design, and ensuring construction quality control.

• Implementing geotechnical and corrosion recommendations within designs.

• Participating in project meetings and working closely with team members to ensure effective communication and project advancement.

• Supporting the Project Discipline Lead in meeting critical deadlines and promoting effective collaboration among project team members and various design disciplines.

• Reporting directly to the Engineering Supervisor with project accountability to Discipline Leads and Project Managers, offering regular updates on project status.

⛳️ Requirements

• A B.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent is required.

• Civil Engineer-In-Training (FE) registration is mandatory.

• A minimum of 2 years of engineering experience in structural design is required.

• Preferred experience of 4+ years.

• Specific experience in structural foundation design for utility-scale solar projects within a fast-paced consulting environment is preferred.

• Familiarity with renewable energy systems is preferred.

• Knowledge of codes such as ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360/341, IBC, and others.

• Proficiency in software tools including, but not limited to, L-PILE, RISA 3D/2D, RISA Foundation, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Global Mapper, Bluebeam, and more.

• Knowledge of PV systems design or structural design for transmission lines is a plus.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Efficient time management skills, capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision, including the ability to prioritize, organize, and plan effectively to meet all deadlines.
