Strategic Sourcing Category Manager, Packaging

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of supplier price management from start to finish.

• Monitor market trends and drivers of raw material costs.

• Assess supplier price increase notifications and index data, provide recommendations, and engage in negotiations.

• Collaborate with suppliers and upstream supply chains to achieve cost reductions.

• Coordinate with stakeholders in Planning, Quality Assurance, Research & Development, and Marketing.

• Assist in developing the can sourcing strategy as the company expands throughout Latin America.

• Oversee corrugate pricing, promotions, configurations, and cost inquiries.

• Create cost models, price lists, and conduct variance analyses.

• Aid in custom molding solutions for bottle conversion initiatives.

• Travel up to 30% to suppliers and contract manufacturers located in the US, Mexico, and Brazil.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3 to 7 years of experience in strategic sourcing or procurement for direct materials, including packaging, components, or raw materials.

• Experience in contract manufacturing on either the client or supplier side.

• Practical knowledge of plastics, including resins, bottles, and both injection and blow molding processes.

• Proven ability to manage supplier pricing through data, and negotiate both increases and decreases.

• Strong proficiency in Excel and capability to analyze detailed cost data.

• Possess critical thinking skills and a sense of curiosity.

• A collaborative approach with the ability to cultivate relationships across various functions.

• Must be eligible to work in the United States; this role does not provide visa sponsorship.

• Bonus points for experience with can or metal packaging, corrugate, Power BI, Microsoft D365, and international sourcing.
