Strategic Communications Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee the editorial calendar for GEM, coordinating timelines, contributors, approvals, and communication support for major releases such as Boom and Bust Coal and Pedal to the Metal.

• Offer editorial direction while ensuring the quality, structure, and formatting of GEM reports and briefings are maintained.

• Partner with the Communications Director and GEM programs to identify, develop, produce, and promote engaging media stories derived from GEM data.

• Create and refine communication materials for editorial and product launches, encompassing media pitches, press releases, web content, newsletters, and other external communications.

• Work alongside the Digital Communications Manager to convert reports and data into messaging frameworks that bolster GEM’s digital strategy, enhancing the reach and impact of editorial and product launches.

• Collaborate with the Director of Product and the Data Visualization Analyst to produce clear, accurate, and visually appealing charts, graphics, and other data-driven content.

• Assist in media outreach, monitor coverage and impact, and provide additional communication support as organizational priorities shift.

• Minimum of five years of experience in communications or journalism.

• Capability to oversee multiple projects involving diverse stakeholders.

• Exceptional attention to detail.

• Strategic mindset with a proven history of facilitating organization-wide change.

• Proficiency in English.
