This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.
• Develop, establish, and maintain an advocacy and campaigning framework along with a SCAN presence in key districts (65%)
• Evaluate the supporter base of Save the Children Action Network, identify key audiences and demographic segments to target, and select strategies both online and offline to educate and engage these individuals and groups in order to achieve our annual objectives and deliverables.
• Recruit, engage, and sustain a supporter base that encompasses volunteer leaders, students, and other community members.
• Involve supporters in both online and offline initiatives, including letters, phone calls, petitions, social media, in-person meetings, and letters to the editor.
• Establish and/or maintain community action teams to coordinate local, state, and national campaigns effectively.
• Collaborate with SCAN’s student engagement team to create student clubs on targeted college campuses and assist in the outreach and advocacy efforts of college and high school student ambassadors.
• Provide training and ongoing support for the development of volunteer leadership.
• Oversee volunteer data management to ensure accurate reporting.
• Build relationships with local, state, and federal lawmakers to promote our legislative agenda.
• Register as a lobbyist to advocate for state legislative priorities.
• Engage with coalition partners and community stakeholders.
• Advance SCAN’s agenda in partnership with collaborators through events, outreach, and other local engagement efforts.
• A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent, along with at least 3 years of relevant experience
• Experience in recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers
• A working knowledge of the legislative and electoral processes
• Experience in public speaking and training
• Proven field experience in at least one election cycle
• Willingness and capability to travel up to 30% to priority districts in the state
• Professional proficiency in the MS Office suite
• Professional proficiency in both spoken and written English
