This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of high-priority, cross-functional programs within GitLab's engineering division.
• Work at the portfolio level to recognize dependencies, monitor progress, manage risks, and assist teams in achieving specific objectives, milestones, and measurable results over several quarters.
• Collaborate directly with Engineering Directors, Vice Presidents, Product leadership, and technical leaders to ensure alignment on priorities, program objectives, trade-offs, and execution strategies.
• Establish structure in uncertain environments by defining program frameworks, decision points, operating rhythms, and communication strategies that facilitate team advancement.
• Convert technical architecture discussions, infrastructure considerations, and system interdependencies into clear program plans that teams can effectively execute.
• Facilitate stakeholder coordination across organizational boundaries, collaborating with teams such as Monetization, Fulfillment, Utilization, Legal, and senior contributors throughout various engineering stages.
• Clearly convey program status, risks, and decisions to senior stakeholders and executive audiences, focusing on concise updates and actionable next steps.
• Enhance program management practices by improving planning methods, supporting outcome-driven execution, and assisting the teams you support in working more efficiently at scale.
• Demonstrated experience in technical program management, particularly at the Staff or Senior Staff level.
• Proven ability to lead large, intricate, cross-functional programs within a fast-paced, distributed engineering setting.
• Strong technical fluency, capable of engaging credibly with engineers and architects on topics such as continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), cloud infrastructure, application programming interfaces (APIs), and distributed systems.
• Outstanding stakeholder management abilities along with strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly when interacting with senior engineering and product leaders.
• Proficient in using program and project management tools such as GitLab, Jira, or similar platforms to oversee execution and visibility.
• Skilled in interpreting technical discussions, identifying dependencies and risks, and transforming complex information into actionable plans, milestones, and decisions.
• Proven capability to take ownership of complex programs, ask insightful questions, make informed decisions, collaborate effectively across teams, and advance work in uncertain environments.
