This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Formulate and implement the strategic vision for occupant state, protection, and comfort technologies.
• Establish system-level architectures, requirements, and performance benchmarks across the domains of sensing, protection, and comfort.
• Convert product roadmaps into technical strategies, development plans, and system specifications.
• Perform competitive benchmarking, market analysis, and technology research.
• Identify new technology requirements and spearhead development strategies utilizing both internal and supplier resources.
• Create business cases and strategic proposals for new technologies and present these to senior management.
• Define and monitor key performance indicators to evaluate system performance and overall success.
• Lead cross-departmental alignment among product, safety, and engineering teams.
• Develop rollout and deployment strategies for various vehicle programs, architectures, and global variants.
• Analyze system trade-offs, including performance, cost, power, mass, and complexity.
• Offer technical leadership and guidance to teams responsible for development and integration.
• Collaborate with suppliers and partners to identify and advance emerging technologies.
• Design and implement GM’s occupant state, protection, and comfort technology platforms across both current and future vehicle architectures.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related discipline.
• Over 8 years of experience in sensing, safety, or vehicle system development.
• More than 5 years of experience in the development of advanced vehicle technology or system architecture.
• Experience in occupant sensing, occupant state monitoring, or safety systems.
• Profound knowledge of sensing modalities and system-level trade-offs.
• Significant experience in defining system architectures and requirements for complex embedded systems.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects across multiple teams.
• Excellent communication and storytelling skills, capable of translating complex ideas into strategic guidance.
• Proficient in managing intricate technical challenges with a high degree of autonomy.
• Preferred: Master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
• Preferred: Over 10 years of experience in sensing, safety, or vehicle system development.
• Familiarity with vehicle safety systems and integration.
• Experience with sensing technologies such as cameras, radar, or other in-cabin modalities.
• Knowledge of occupant protection systems, including airbags and restraints.
• Experience in vehicle development processes.
• Background in system architecture, requirements development, and technology strategy.
• The selected candidate may be located anywhere within the country of employment.
