Staff Software Engineer – Product Platform Team

Posted May 14

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of intricate product domains from inception to completion—covering discovery, design, implementation, rollout, and continuous improvement—utilizing Node/TypeScript backends and React frontends.

• Spearhead architecture and system design for real-time, high-volume processes (e.g., call routing on an event-driven SIP softswitch, UI over WebSockets, streaming audio for speech recognition).

• Create clear technical design documentation, establish standards for code quality, testing, performance, and observability, ensuring designs can scale seamlessly as the company expands.

• Work collaboratively with PM, Design, and fellow engineers to transform vague requirements into intuitive, high-performing user experiences; make informed trade-offs and document the decision-making process.

• Guide and elevate engineers through design reviews, collaborative programming, and constructive feedback; exemplify engineering excellence and nurture a culture of craftsmanship and transparency.

• Enhance developer experience (DevEx) and reliability by shaping APIs, data contracts, testing strategies, and progressive delivery practices across various teams.

• Participate in on-call duties and help maintain operational excellence in the areas for which you are responsible.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of professional software engineering experience, including evident Staff-level responsibilities (cross-team technical leadership, strategy, and delivery).

• Proven history of owning products/features throughout their entire lifecycle—from initial discovery to deployment and ongoing iteration.

• Proficiency in TypeScript/Node.js and contemporary frontend frameworks (e.g., React), along with a solid understanding of SQL fundamentals using an RDBMS such as PostgreSQL.

• Expertise in distributed systems or real-time application patterns (e.g., WebSockets, streaming, PubSub), and performance optimization across the entire stack.

• Strong product-oriented mindset and communication skills: you simplify complexities, align stakeholders, and link technical decisions to user and business outcomes.

🏝️ Benefits

• Flexibility to work from anywhere in the U.S.

• Flexible Vacation Policy.

• Orum Days Off (the first Friday of each month, two weeks off at year-end, and additional observed holidays).

• 90% coverage for employees and dependents for medical, dental, and vision care.

• Online behavioral health and virtual healthcare options available.

• Parental leave with quota relief.

• Life Insurance and AD&D coverage.

• 401(k) savings plan.

• Meaningful stock options provided.

• $1,000 equipment reimbursement (yours to keep).

• Company retreats and meetups to foster in-person connections.
