Staff Software Engineer in Test

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer in Test to enhance the quality standards across our mobile application and backend systems.

• This role involves hands-on technical leadership at the crossroads of QA and mobile development, promoting a native-first testing strategy and fostering a culture where developers take ownership of quality rather than delegating it.

• Develop and manage the testing strategy for mobile teams focusing on native iOS (Swift/SwiftUI) and Android (Kotlin) applications.

• Establish strategies for coverage of device and OS-version fragmentation and manage flakiness control at scale.

• Take responsibility for quality gates within app release and store-deployment processes, and facilitate the resolution of quality issues that span team boundaries within the domain.

• Collaborate on testability, integrate quality ownership early in the development workflow, and be the go-to person for teams prior to implementation.

• Mentor Senior Software Engineers in Test, driving tangible growth and offering technical guidance across the domain.

• Establish quality metrics and gates, utilizing them to articulate quality risks in business terms to Engineering Managers, Senior Engineering Managers, and Product Managers.

• Develop the approach for AI integration in quality engineering within the domain, determining which tools and workflows to implement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in automating mobile application tests natively (iOS or Android, ideally both).

• Proven history of designing test strategies and the test pyramid, rather than merely executing existing plans.

• Demonstrated shift-left experience—engaging in the process prior to coding and effecting measurable changes in outcomes.

• Experience in leading technical and process changes while collaborating directly with development teams.

• Background in implementing mock-based testing—setting standards and providing education.

• Proven influence beyond a single team—establishing standards for multiple teams or leading cross-team quality initiatives.

• A proactive, hands-on relationship with AI—actively using it and evaluating its risks, not just its advantages.

• Fluent in English and Polish.
