This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Take the technical lead in advancing the Confluent Platform, with a strong focus on USM, hybrid-first management, and operational capabilities across the platform.
• Collaborate closely with product management, engineering leadership, and cross-organizational stakeholders (including Confluent Cloud) to shape and implement the CP roadmap.
• Serve as a prominent external technical representative for the Confluent Platform throughout the organization.
• Advocate for domain health, operational standards, and platform reliability; elevate quality through design and code reviews.
• Direct the architecture and design of large, intricate systems that encompass distributed systems, Kubernetes, security, and observability.
• Mentor and develop senior engineers and technical leads by offering hands-on guidance and career development support.
• Represent and enhance engineering leadership in India, establishing benchmarks for execution, communication, and engineering excellence.
• Create and refine processes that empower teams to function at scale without compromising quality or speed.
• Over 10 years of hands-on software development experience, demonstrating a strong ability to foresee future technical requirements and act accordingly.
• A proven history of transforming ideas from conception to production in complex, high-scale systems.
• A readiness to engage directly—designing, coding, debugging, and maintaining critical systems.
• Extensive experience in building and managing large-scale distributed systems, with a solid foundation in OS, networking, storage, and cloud infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, concurrency, and multi-threaded programming.
• A proactive, self-motivated approach with excellent problem-solving abilities, focusing on identifying root causes and implementing sustainable solutions.
• Capability to balance immediate execution with long-term architectural integrity; able to ship incremental updates and iterate with urgency.
• Strong influencing skills—able to guide technical decisions across teams and senior leadership through clear, data-driven communication.
• Experience managing high-severity production incidents, including on-call responsibilities, in-depth debugging, and resolution under pressure.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
