This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Develop and implement high-quality, scalable integrations for a variety of infrastructure components, applications, and data ingestion pipelines.
• Create middleware components and libraries that enhance the development and maintenance of observability solutions.
• When required, represent Grafana Labs in open source forums, working groups, and events.
• Collaborate with product teams, as well as design and documentation, to create features that align with broader product strategy and customer requirements.
• Guide the technical direction and vision of the team, participating in strategic discussions and contributing to the future development of observability solutions.
• Work alongside other departments, including Sales, Product, and Support teams, to provide a comprehensive product experience.
• Take ownership of the services you manage by deploying well-tested, clean code.
• Embrace our open-source culture and contribute to other projects that may extend beyond your team’s immediate scope.
• A strong background with 8+ years of experience in at least one programming language, with any major language (Python, .NET, Java, Go, Rust, etc.) being acceptable.
• Proven experience in managing high-scale production systems operating on Kubernetes, including on-call participation, incident response, and postmortem practices.
• Familiarity with observability tools (e.g., Grafana).
• A solid understanding of time-series data, challenges related to metrics cardinality, and trade-offs/optimizations in observability systems.
• Experience in a hands-on technical leadership role, establishing technical direction, leading project teams, and influencing architectural decisions beyond your immediate team.
• Comprehensive knowledge of distributed systems concepts, including scalability, consistency, high availability, and failure modes in large-scale systems.
• Proficiency in writing clean, maintainable, robust, and performant software.
• Experience in delivering projects from inception to completion in a self-directed manner.
