Staff Software Engineer – Full Stack

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Oversee full stack development for both front end and back end systems that support federal copyright modernization initiatives.

• Independently devise and implement technical roadmaps without needing explicit guidance from technical supervisors.

• Act as the primary technical authority for your workstream, proactively updating stakeholders on progress, risks, and potential tradeoffs.

• Analyze and refine complex, ambiguous systems to identify constraints and reveal new opportunities.

• Mitigate technical ambiguity through thorough documentation, code refactoring, and automated testing methodologies.

• Promote effective technical solutions during planning discussions, clearly conveying tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Engage in technical depth interviews with prospective candidates.

• Assist in bid writing, technical demonstrations, and client communications by clearly outlining system history, design decisions, and past achievements.

• Occasionally travel to collaborate with clients, partners, and stakeholders as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree along with 9+ years of experience in software engineering, or equivalent experience in place of a degree.

• Expertise in at least one major full stack technology stack, with a proven record of independently leading teams to successful project completion.

• Extensive experience in back end development using Python and/or Java.

• Proficiency in front end development utilizing Angular or similar contemporary frameworks.

• Familiarity with relational databases, including PostgreSQL.

• Practical experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native application architecture.

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and version control systems, particularly GitLab.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting technical subjects to diverse audiences.

• Must fulfill federal suitability requirements and successfully pass a background investigation as a condition of employment.
