Staff Software Engineer – Full Remote or Hybrid

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.

📋 Description

• Create distributed, stateless, and scalable systems that maintain resilience against failure while aligning with long-term business and technical strategies.

• Actively engage with the codebase by prototyping, implementing, and reviewing essential features.

• Exhibit leadership through the delivery of high-quality, pragmatic, and scalable code.

• Utilize asynchronous architectures and message-driven patterns through technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, or pub/sub to enhance latency, responsiveness, and service decoupling.

• Establish and enforce patterns for data consistency (either eventual or strong), message ordering, and reliable state transitions across services and storage layers.

• Mentor engineers from various teams, enhance engineering capabilities, and foster a culture of technical excellence and ownership.

• Advocate for best practices in testing, observability, continuous integration, and secure software development.

• Proactively reduce technical debt and implement modernization strategies that boost system agility, performance, and reliability.

• Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Product, and Infrastructure teams to influence roadmaps and shape a practical, scalable architectural vision.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering robust, distributed, and mission-critical systems in a production environment.

• Proficiency in asynchronous processing and message-driven systems utilizing technologies like Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ, or pub/sub.

• Extensive technical knowledge in system design, performance tuning, concurrency, and consistency models.

• Strong programming skills in one or more modern languages (e.g., Java, Go, Python, TypeScript).

• Understanding of service-oriented and event-driven architectures, eventual consistency strategies, and data synchronization techniques.

• Expertise in CI/CD, test automation strategies, and infrastructure-as-code tools.

• Practical experience with secure coding practices and an awareness of compliance and resilience in regulated or complex environments.

• Strong observability mindset focused on metrics, logs, traces, incident management, and root cause analysis.

• Proficient in both English and French.

• Capability to lead technical direction across multiple teams without relying solely on positional authority.

• Exceptional judgment in balancing engineering excellence with speed, business outcomes, and associated risks.

• Experience mentoring Senior Engineers and guiding architectural decisions at the organizational level.

• Ability to navigate ambiguity, influence without ego, and coach others through technical challenges.
