This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Expand the Airwall technology to encompass new categories of devices and hardware targets.
• Take ownership of embedded software on constrained devices, including OpenWRT and ARM-based platforms.
• Operate within the secure data path, focusing on identity-based overlay networking, IPsec/ESP, IKE, tunnel encapsulation, NAT traversal, Layer 2 over Layer 3, and certificate-based PKI identity.
• Update the Airwall technology stack to enhance performance, observability, and maintainability.
• Troubleshoot significant networking issues in live customer environments through packet-level analysis.
• Contribute to core codebases while enhancing code quality, testing, and overall performance.
• Mentor fellow engineers and act as a technical role model.
• Utilize AI coding tools such as Claude, Copilot, Codex, or Cursor as part of the standard workflow.
• Engage directly with customers who are operating the protected networks.
• Deliver software that is production-ready and performs consistently.
• 8+ years of experience in shipping production networking software, with extensive embedded or kernel-adjacent systems experience.
• Profound expertise in C, C++, or Rust, with the capability to work across all three programming languages.
• Strong understanding of networking Layers 2 through 4.
• Ability to analyze from the wire level up and interpret packet captures independently.
• Practical embedded Linux experience on resource-limited hardware or OpenWRT.
• Familiarity with IPsec, ESP, IKE, encrypted transport, certificate-based identity, and PKI.
• Proven history of delivering solutions in environments where downtime is critical.
• Effective communication skills and sound judgment across product and engineering teams.
• Preferred: Experience with Host Identity Protocol (RFC 7401) or similar identity-based networking overlays.
• Preferred: Background in operational technology or industrial control systems, including BACnet or Modbus.
• Preferred: Exposure to hardware bring-up, board support packages, or firmware release engineering.
• Preferred: Contributions to open source networking initiatives.
