Staff Software Engineer – Customer Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of features from design through to implementation, rollout, and iteration, collaborating with Product Management and Chainguard partner teams.

• Design, develop, and enhance backend systems utilizing Go and REST/gRPC APIs.

• Facilitate entitlement, policy, and customer onboarding services.

• Act as the main technical liaison between the Customer Platform and other engineering teams, including Containers, Libraries, and OS packages.

• Grasp cross-team requirements and construct integration paths.

• Expand Chainguard's agentic AI foundation into customer-facing product experiences.

• Offer technical leadership and mentorship to both senior and mid-level engineers.

• Assist the team in navigating ambiguity and striving towards clear outcomes.

• Contribute to a product-focused roadmap, prioritize trade-offs, and iteratively deliver solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven production experience with Go.

• Strong ownership of API design and backend systems at scale, along with experience in production shipping and operations.

• Experience collaborating across multiple engineering teams on technical standards, integration patterns, and shared infrastructure.

• Ability to operate comfortably in ambiguous situations, providing diagnoses, recommendations, and paths forward.

• Proven ability to mentor engineers and offer technical guidance without holding a formal management title.

• Familiarity with cloud-native environments, Kubernetes, and cloud provider APIs is highly advantageous.

• Experience with entitlements, billing systems, or platform infrastructure is a plus but not mandatory.

• Previous exposure to building or enhancing AI-powered product features is a plus.
