Staff Software Engineer – Community

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Slovakia.

📋 Description

• Design and execute application architecture that is scalable, maintainable, observable, and high-performing.

• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.

• Conduct code reviews, assess architecture, and contribute to engineering best practices.

• Identify and optimize performance bottlenecks across systems.

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful features.

• Ensure application security by implementing safeguards against vulnerabilities.

• Participate in and lead decisions for major capabilities, assisting teams in translating business and product needs into clear, actionable technical roadmaps.

• Act as a product-engineering subject matter expert (SME) for the domain, mapping capabilities into well-defined domains and ensuring they deliver essential business and product services within the broader technical platform.

• Lead by example through hands-on coding, developing new capabilities or enhancing existing ones, and promoting the adoption of best software engineering principles and practices, while providing continuous mentorship and guidance to the teams.

• Clearly communicate complex solutions to stakeholders both within and outside the area, while fostering a robust product engineering culture across teams.


⛳️ Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience in building customer-facing web products utilizing React and Next.js.

• A solid front-end engineering background, ideally with full-stack experience to confidently work across APIs, integrations, and system boundaries.

• Demonstrated experience in designing and evolving software architecture across complex systems and multiple codebases or related product domains.

• A strong product engineering mindset, capable of translating product requirements into clear technical designs, staged delivery plans, and high-quality implementations.

• Excellent communication skills, able to clearly explain complex technical decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• A coaching mindset — someone who enjoys fostering growth in others, raising standards, and ensuring best practices are upheld without ego.

• Ideally, you will also have:

• Experience with PHP and Vue/Vue components.

• Experience working on membership, community, personalization, gamification, or user-retention products.

• Experience with high-traffic websites.

• Experience applying Domain-Driven Design, SOLID, GRASP, or other software design principles in a practical product environment.
