Staff Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• You oversee the comprehensive delivery of intricate software applications, guaranteeing compliance with best practices and maintaining high quality standards.

• You develop frameworks and abstractions that reduce the workload for other engineers. Your documentation and tutorials empower other teams to utilize your work autonomously. You recognize and enhance test coverage for end-to-end business flows across various systems and teams. You introduce new tools, techniques, and coding patterns to fellow engineers, some of which you may have created, and facilitate this change across teams.

• You influence technical decision-making, participate in, and occasionally lead, architectural discussions, proposing innovative solutions to complex technical and systemic architectural issues. You collaborate across teams to create systems that bridge architectural gaps.

• You assume responsibility for significant projects and initiatives, providing project leadership and ensuring successful outcomes through effective project management and communication. You engage with stakeholders throughout the organization, grasping their needs and navigating the complexities and conflicting objectives.

• You possess the ability to articulate business strategies, technical concepts, designs, or implementations clearly and concisely to non-technical audiences. You work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to gather and convert business requirements into efficient and scalable software solutions. You have a demonstrated history of leading cross-team initiatives that yield meaningful results across engineering, product, and design. You manage technical, organizational, and scheduling complexities to align teams and achieve results positively for all involved. Your interactions foster trust and enhance speed within our organization.

• You serve as the technical thought leader of the team, providing necessary guidance and mentorship to senior team members as needed.

• You act as the key technical counterpart to an engineering manager overseeing a larger team; you can provide constructive feedback to engineering managers at all levels to identify and address gaps within their teams.

• You successfully advocate for technologies and processes that enhance efficiency across multiple teams.

• You conduct thorough code reviews, offering insightful feedback to uphold code quality, performance, and maintainability.

• You consistently seek opportunities for process enhancements and efficiency improvements within the software development lifecycle.

• You stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices, proactively introducing relevant advancements to improve our products and services.

⛳️ Requirements

• Generally requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; or a Master's degree with an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Demonstrated success in delivering complex software solutions in a leadership role with high quality.

• Proficient in one or more programming languages, such as Java, Python, C++, or similar.

• Expertise in data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.

• Proven experience in web application development, RESTful APIs, and frontend technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is advantageous.

• Proficiency in working with relational databases and SQL is a plus.

• Strong understanding of version control systems, such as Git.

• Experience with cloud technologies, preferably AWS or Azure, is highly desirable.

• Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead a team of engineers, promoting a collaborative and supportive work environment.

• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a passion for addressing complex technical and business challenges.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven history of effective collaboration in a team-oriented setting.
