This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Enhance the platform to avert incidents by designing and promoting the use of guardrails, sensible defaults, and engineering standards that decrease the likelihood of failures across services.
• Develop tools that minimize the time required for mitigation when incidents arise, including contributions to our in-house product focused on AI-assisted incident response.
• Take ownership of investigating and following up on load test results, translating these findings into tangible reliability enhancements across critical workflows.
• Collaborate with platform and product engineering teams as a technical influencer, engaging in architecture and readiness reviews, coaching service owners, and promoting scalable reliability practices.
• Recognize recurring failure patterns and devise platform-level solutions that prevent reoccurrence in different services.
• Participate in the team’s reliability syncs with product engineering to align on incident themes, risks in critical flows, and prioritize high-leverage initiatives.
• Over 8 years of software engineering experience, with substantial involvement in platform, infrastructure, or SRE roles.
• Proven history of enhancing reliability at scale, including reducing incidents, creating guardrails, or establishing operational standards across various teams.
• Strong expertise in backend systems and distributed architecture; able to diagnose complex failure modes within a service mesh.
• Experience in load testing and capacity planning, with the capability to convert findings into actionable engineering improvements.
• Established ability to work across engineering teams as a technical influencer, promoting the adoption of standards and practices without direct authority.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Helm, Argo, and contemporary deployment tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable presenting findings and recommendations to engineering teams and senior leadership.
