Staff Software Backend Engineer – Tech Lead

📋 Description

• Lead the Foundations team from a technical perspective.

• Take ownership of the architecture for the Platform Authorization Service (PAS), which manages access across the platform.

• Establish the technical direction for identity management, single sign-on, access control, secrets management services, and related domains.

• Oversee the delivery of core services for Foundations, including login, authorization, and tenancy.

• Act as the primary technical decision-maker for the Foundations team.

• Guide and mentor the engineering team through everyday technical tasks.

• Collaborate with the Foundations Engineering Manager and Product Manager to ensure effective team execution.

• Propel core components through the general availability launch phase.

• Define API contracts for platform services utilized by the Delivery Platform and Application teams.

• Align technical strategies with product priorities.

• Establish engineering standards for code reviews, testing, and documentation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of software development experience, including technical ownership of a platform or infrastructure sector.

• At least 3 years of experience in a B2B software startup or a rapidly growing organization.

• Direct experience with authentication and authorization systems, such as OAuth, SSO, or role-based access control.

• Proven ability to lead engineering efforts without formal managerial authority.

• Proficiency in backend programming with Python and Go.

• Experience in designing APIs that are utilized by other engineering teams.

• Strong foundation in Linux and distributed systems.

• Demonstrated ability to make technical decisions in situations of uncertainty.

• Authorized to work in the United States or United Kingdom.

• Nice to have: experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.

• Nice to have: experience with network management or infrastructure software.

• Nice to have: contributions to open-source projects or involvement in relevant initiatives.

• Nice to have: familiarity with AI-enhanced tools such as Copilot, ChatGPT, or Cursor.
