• Act as the local authority and expert on the test processes, feature interactions, and quality standards within your Pillar.
• Get involved early in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), making significant contributions to refinement, planning sessions, and RFC/Design reviews.
• Assess and influence Pillar OKRs (such as engineering speed and reliability) to pinpoint opportunities for collaboration where Quality Engineering (QE) strategies can directly support business goals.
• Take responsibility for your Pillar's quality by proactively identifying vulnerabilities, automation hurdles, and resource shortages, and escalate these issues to leadership for support.
• Represent your Pillar in the Cross-Module Leadership Team, coordinating cross-team effects, sharing industry-leading practices, and aligning on standardized testing plans and tools across all pillars.
• Design and oversee non-functional testing strategies within the pillar, actively promoting performance, load, and scale testing to ensure the platform can reliably manage enterprise-level concurrency and data volumes.
• Promote AI Adoption & Standardization: Advocate for the use of AI throughout the testing lifecycle. Collaborate with the Internal Tools (Autobots) team to contribute to, adopt, and standardize AI-based testing solutions across your pillar.
• Foster the belief that quality is a collective engineering goal, ensuring that development teams share accountability for automation upkeep and avoid the pitfall of "throwing it over the wall to QA."
• Strategically allocate QE resources within your Pillar, focusing on high-impact user journeys and guiding your team to concentrate on the most critical initiatives.
• Contribute to test code, review Developer Unit/Integration tests for coverage deficiencies, and actively write complex End-to-End (E2E) automation scripts alongside your team.
• Collaborate closely with your Pillar’s dedicated Automation Enablement engineer to ensure framework deficiencies are addressed and flaky tests are managed promptly.
• Serve as a strong mentor and educator in nuanced testing principles for both Feature QEs and Developers, empowering others while continuing to make an impact yourself.
• 8–12+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, Software Development in Test, or a related area.
• Extensive knowledge in various technical domains, programming languages (preferably Python and Pytest), testing tools, and automation frameworks.
• Proven track record in defining and implementing performance, scale, and load testing strategies for complex distributed systems.
• Demonstrated capability to assess "build vs. buy" decisions and create entirely new implementations of industry solutions.
• Strong strategic problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance release risks against schedules to maximize test execution without compromising delivery speed.
• High emotional intelligence and maturity; an active listener open to feedback, who seeks diverse perspectives and prioritizes the best solution over personal correctness.
• Proactive and humble ownership, focusing on increasing the visibility of your team's contributions, sharing credit, and seeking assistance when faced with significant risks.
• Excellent communication and influencing abilities, capable of representing the engineering organization both internally and externally.
• A collaborative, team-focused attitude with the capacity to remove obstacles and coordinate actions across the organization.
