Staff Quality Assurance Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the automated-testing strategy and frameworks for the UI product, starting with Resident Onboarding followed by Command Center.

• Integrate critical user flow coverage into the delivery pipeline, ensuring that engineering manages testing.

• Create and maintain a risk-weighted registry of essential flows.

• Provide testing coverage reports through live dashboards, detailing critical flows tested, screens exercised, and real production traffic paths assessed via Datadog RUM.

• Spearhead an AI-first testing methodology utilizing Claude, agent workflows, skills, and MCP-based tools for JIRA, APIs, and direct database inspection.

• Revamp integration testing by transitioning partner verification from manual web-based checks to API-based automation.

• Assist in closing gaps in environment and testability.

• Incorporate quality into design and pull request reviews.

• Mentor engineers to take ownership and enhance their automated tests.

• Propel the Quality Enablement practice in collaboration with engineering directors, platform teams, and product stakeholders.

• Establish CI coverage ratchets, monitor deployment-gate health, and reduce flakiness.

• Increase visibility of escaped defects by tagging them to user flows and tracking them against change-failure rates.

⛳️ Requirements

• Staff-level engineer with extensive experience in designing, coding, and managing test automation and frameworks across unit, integration, contract, and browser/e2e layers.

• Quality engineering as a core competency, with a proven history of developing high-quality automated testing.

• Proficient in utilizing AI to enhance and solidify testing processes, including agent workflows, skills, and MCP tooling; adopting an all-in approach towards AI in engineering.

• Outstanding communication and coaching skills with engineers, PMs, leaders, and non-technical stakeholders.

• Capacity to independently navigate ambiguous quality challenges to achieve measurable outcomes.

• Strong skills in AWS and Node/TypeScript.

• Comfortable working with distributed, service-oriented systems and conducting testing across service boundaries.

• Availability to work an 8-to-5 EST schedule.

• Experience with domain-driven design, event-driven architecture, microservices, full-stack coding, and in fast-paced or startup environments.

• Ability to provide proof of legal right to work in the United States upon hiring.

• Must not require Second Nature to sponsor an immigration case.

• Bonus: experience in establishing or scaling a quality engineering practice.

• Bonus: expertise in performance/load testing.

• Bonus: experience in data integrity testing against relational databases (PostgreSQL).
