Staff Product Manager, Perception Hardware – Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Establish and uphold system-level requirements for both current and upcoming hardware devices.

• Act as the primary authority on device collaboration, communication, and seamless failure management.

• Develop a data-driven perspective on operators, executives, residents, families, and frontline personnel.

• Leverage customer insights to outline requirements, prioritize decisions, and verify outcomes.

• Lead investigations into new and existing types of hardware.

• Assess sensing technologies and device setups in collaboration with hardware, software, and commercial teams.

• Evaluate technical feasibility and regulatory limitations.

• Link hardware suggestions to product SKUs, market growth, new verticals, and economic viability.

• Establish success criteria from the PRD initiation through Concept, EVT, DVT, PVT, and mass production phases.

• Convert end-user, unit-economic, business, and clinical objectives into phased requirements.

• Articulate strategy and execution across commercial, implementation, operations, and engineering teams.

• Collaborate with implementation teams to transform deployment challenges into product requirements.

• Oversee the comprehensive implementation experience, including software aspects.

• Utilize AI throughout the discovery, development, and post-launch refinement processes.

• Work in partnership with hardware, embedded, software, AI, and implementation teams.

• Report directly to the Head of Product.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of product management experience with significant responsibility for hardware-enabled systems.

• Proficiency across hardware, embedded systems, and hardware-software integration.

• Total ownership of hardware development success from PRD and concept through EVT, DVT, PVT, and mass production stages.

• Responsibility for launching profitable new SKUs and defining system-level requirements alongside cross-device trade-offs.

• Strong technical background in perception and sensing technologies, including cameras, radar, thermal, BLE beacons, and audio.

• Capability to translate practical functionality into intricate cross-device system requirements.

• Proficient in defining willingness to pay and constructing detailed cost models for multi-device hardware networks.

• Experience in modeling COGS with comprehensive BOM and target gross margin.

• Ability to utilize cost models to guide trade-off choices.

• Fluency in collaborating with hardware, embedded, and software engineers regarding technical requirements, constraints, and system-level trade-offs.

• Competence to engage in schematic reviews or embedded debugging sessions.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Proficient in producing clear system requirements, technical PRDs, and trade-off analyses.

• Bonus: experience in safety-critical or regulated device environments, including UL2560/UL 1069, FDA, FCC, or medical device standards.

• Bonus: experience in healthcare, senior living, or clinical environments.

• Bonus: familiarity with AI/ML applications in on-device sensing data, telemetry anomaly detection, or perception pipelines.
