Staff Platform Engineer – Remote, EMEA

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• In the role of Staff Platform Engineer, you will take ownership of the essential cloud infrastructure that supports the WunderGraph Cosmo platform for our enterprise clients.

• Your main duty is to maintain the reliability, performance, and scalability of this vital platform by establishing and adhering to rigorous SLOs.

• You will design our internal systems for scalability and also build and manage critical product infrastructure, which includes our customer-facing telemetry pipeline (developed on OpenTelemetry and ClickHouse) and the AI pipeline that enhances our products.

• You will work closely with the Head of Engineering and collaborate with the engineering team and customers.

• Empower our engineering teams to deliver features for WunderGraph Cosmo swiftly, reliably, and confidently through an exemplary Internal Developer Platform (IDP).

• Lead the architectural vision for the platform, making pivotal decisions regarding technologies such as Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, and our observability stack.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in designing and managing scalable, highly available, and secure cloud-native platforms in production, with a strong command of Go and extensive knowledge of Kubernetes.

• Extensive experience with a leading cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure) and Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi).

• A solid grasp of system architecture, distributed systems, and the challenges associated with operating high-performance API gateways. Familiarity with GraphQL Federation is a notable advantage.

• Experience in building or overseeing modern observability stacks (e.g., OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, ClickHouse).

• A proactive mindset and leadership qualities: you are comfortable with uncertainty, capable of identifying and addressing poorly defined issues, and do not require constant guidance.

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities, with the capacity to convey complex technical concepts clearly in design documents, RFCs, and asynchronous communications.
