Staff Platform Engineer – Core Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.

📋 Description

• Contribute to the technical design and implementation of essential platform capabilities that cover cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes environments, Observability, CI/CD systems, and developer tools.

• Design, construct, and manage cloud-native platforms on AWS, prioritizing reliability, security, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.

• Spearhead the advancement of CI/CD pipelines and workflows based on GitOps.

• Develop and sustain internal platform services and tools that enhance the developer experience and accelerate delivery speed.

• Continue advancing Infrastructure as Code and automation methodologies across teams.

• Collaborate with application teams to facilitate delivery and align platform features with developer requirements.

• Engage in and/or lead intricate, cross-team projects while providing technical clarity in uncertain problem areas.

• Enhance operational excellence through observability, automation, and incident management.

• Guide engineers and partake in on-call rotations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in platform, infrastructure, DevOps, or software engineering.

• Proficient in Python and Java; familiarity with Kotlin and Go is a plus.

• Extensive knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration.

• Demonstrated experience with CI/CD and GitOps methodologies.

• Expertise in Infrastructure as Code, particularly using Terraform.

• Strong experience with AWS and cloud-native technologies.

• Experience in managing distributed, high-availability systems.

• Ability to influence without direct authority and communicate effectively across different regions.

• Nice to Have:

• Experience with internal developer platforms or portals.

• Familiarity with FinOps or cloud cost management.

• Experience in regulated or high-availability environments.

• Background in backend development.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools.
