Staff Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of infrastructure topology, scaling, and blast-radius boundaries.

• Develop validation gates, implement idempotency checks, create drift detectors, and establish runbooks.

• Analyze unique failures such as consumer lag, dead-letter queues (DLQs), and materialized view chains.

• Manage the target of 500K events per second: conduct load testing, optimize performance, size databases, set service-level objectives (SLOs), and establish alerting mechanisms.

• Oversee IAM/IRSA, secret rotation, and the authentication chain.

• Ensure skills, runbooks, and agent context remain aligned with actual operations.

• Lead incident responses and document every resolution as a new runbook along with a regression test.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience managing production Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure (AWS) at scale.

• Proficient in Terraform and GitOps/Kustomize methodologies.

• Proven incident-response expertise dealing with failures in distributed systems.

• Familiarity with the behaviors of Postgres, a columnar store, and a log/streaming bus under load.

• Comfortable collaborating with AI agents.

• Consider a faulty runbook as a production issue.
