Staff Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Creating and developing tools and applications to enhance Calendly’s infrastructure platform.

• Assessing and providing direction for the development of applications throughout the organization.

• Applying extensive expertise in cloud infrastructure concepts and patterns.

• Promoting and advocating for patterns that application teams can utilize for developing cloud-native applications.

• Cultivating a collaborative environment focused on learning and knowledge sharing.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in cloud infrastructure and/or software development.

• More than 4 years of experience leading technical projects.

• A strong desire and motivation to teach, share knowledge, and mentor others.

• Proficient and comfortable in working directly with internal customers to grasp their needs and collaborate on solutions.

• Creative in problem-solving, with a sharp attention to detail and the ability to deliver high-quality solutions to complex challenges.

• Extensive experience in Go (Golang) development, particularly in writing APIs for building, orchestrating, and managing cloud infrastructure.

• In-depth knowledge of patterns and principles for designing and implementing cloud-native applications on Kubernetes, including Controllers and Operators.

• Experience in building applications on Temporal is a plus.

• Significant experience in designing, building, and maintaining highly available production applications.

• Familiarity with the Linux operating system and systems engineering fundamentals.

• Technical expertise in cloud infrastructure (particularly GCP), distributed systems, and reliability practices.

• Working knowledge of software and infrastructure tuning and observability, especially with Datadog.

• Willingness to participate in on-call rotation, ensuring timely and effective responses to business-critical alerts outside regular working hours.

• Authorized to work lawfully in the United States of America, as Calendly currently does not provide immigration sponsorship.
