Staff Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and manage a reliable, scalable, and secure infrastructure to support applications and automation systems.

• Take ownership of and continually enhance platform engineering tools and services, including documentation and communication across teams.

• Automate the provisioning of infrastructure, configuration management, and deployment pipelines.

• Oversee CI/CD systems to facilitate the efficient and reliable delivery of software.

• Implement and maintain observability solutions, including logging, monitoring, and alerting, to ensure system performance and uptime.

• Uphold security best practices, encompassing vulnerability management and readiness for incident response.

• Participate in the on-call rotation for services managed by the Platform Engineering team.

• Collaborate with R&D teams to design and develop software-defined automation solutions for contemporary factories.

• Shape and sustain the core platform that underpins Bright Machines' automation solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• A minimum of 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).

• Strong background in physical infrastructure, including networking equipment and servers.

• Proficiency with CI/CD tools and GitOps workflows.

• Practical coding experience in Python and Shell scripting.

• Solid comprehension of Linux internals and system administration.

• Experience with cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible).

• Extensive knowledge of Kubernetes (both self-hosted and managed), including Helm.

• Familiarity with observability tools and stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
