Staff Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Design and enhance the internal platform (compute, networking, observability, security, deployment) as a product utilized by engineering and data teams.

• Offer technical guidance on projects aimed at improving DORA metrics, reliability (SLOs, incident response), and the developer experience.

• Establish and promote standards, paved pathways, and internal libraries that enhance team productivity.

• Collaborate with data engineers and data scientists to maintain and advance the data infrastructure (pipelines, warehouse, lineage).

• Create comprehensive observability, security, and FinOps solutions.

• Draft RFCs, ADRs, and technical documentation that underpin long-term architectural choices.

• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers, elevating the team's technical standards.

• Serve as a technical ally to leadership in outlining the roadmap and prioritizing quarterly objectives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of substantial experience in software engineering or infrastructure, with recent involvement in Platform, SRE, or similar teams.

• In-depth knowledge of at least one cloud provider (preferably GCP), with experience managing critical production workloads.

• Expertise in production-grade Kubernetes — encompassing operation, debugging, and cluster design decisions, not just usage.

• Proficient in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.

• Strong background in CI/CD, observability (metrics, logs, distributed tracing), and OpenTelemetry.

• Experience in orchestrating data pipelines (Mage, Airflow, Dagster) and data warehouses (BigQuery).

• Proficient in at least one production backend language (Go or Python).

• Capability to influence cross-team technical decisions through written documentation (RFCs, ADRs, design docs).

• Fluent use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalents) as part of the daily workflow, with a critical approach to trust, verify, and review generated outputs.
