Staff Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain software applications within our suite of enterprise software products.

• Collaborate with product managers and designers to devise innovative solutions to unique challenges.

• Work alongside AI engineers to effectively leverage commercial large language model (LLM) APIs.

• Consistently enhance code quality, extensibility, scalability, and test coverage of software projects.

• Make architectural and cloud engineering decisions in partnership with other engineers.

• Create and optimize infrastructure-as-code stacks, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring/observability tools.

• Enhance internal developer tools, workflows, and best practices to boost team productivity.

• Provide regular feedback to management on team performance, the condition of the tech stack, and stakeholder relationships.

• Diagnose and resolve intricate issues throughout the entire application stack.

• Guide and mentor junior team members.

• Engage in incident response and disaster recovery initiatives.

• Utilize AI-assisted tools to improve productivity, streamline workflows, and facilitate daily tasks.

• Perform other assigned duties.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• At least 8 years of professional experience as a software engineer.

• Minimum of 3 years in a tech lead, architecture lead, or managerial position.

• Proficient in Python for core application development.

• Experience building modern, cloud-native applications using serverless technologies (such as API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB, or similar).

• Passion for developing enterprise software with a strong customer focus, taking pride in delivering a world-class end-to-end user experience.

• Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, teamwork, and communication abilities.

• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools.

• Proficient in utilizing relevant AI tools in the SDLC (Cursor, GitHub Copilot) for coding and/or API integrations.

• In-depth knowledge of:

  • Version control systems (Git)
  • Relational databases and data modeling (Postgres preferred)
  • Infrastructure as Code in AWS (CloudFormation, SAM)
  • RESTful API design and documentation
  • CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or similar
  • Containerization and orchestration (Docker, ECS)
  • Enterprise-scale cloud engineering in AWS
  • Modern software development lifecycle in an agile product team
