Staff Network Security Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Establish and uphold network security architecture standards.

• Offer technical guidance and mentorship to the security and network engineering teams.

• Oversee network security evaluations, encompassing threat modeling and intrusion detection.

• Create and implement advanced security automation and tools.

• Work alongside network engineers to incorporate security controls and telemetry.

• Engage in incident response initiatives related to network security events.

• Lead the security review process for all modifications to network infrastructure or products.

• Advocate for security best practices through documentation, tools, and collaboration across teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8-10 years of experience in network security engineering, network penetration testing, or security-centric infrastructure roles.

• Exceptional communication abilities to effectively engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• In-depth knowledge of Layer 2/3/4 networking protocols (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, VRRP, LACP) and their security ramifications.

• Comprehensive understanding of DDoS attack vectors and mitigation techniques.

• Extensive experience in designing and constructing secure networks from the ground up.

• Proven experience in leading projects and providing technical direction to cross-functional teams.

• Proficient in scripting/programming languages such as Python or Go for automation and tool development.

• Familiarity with network platforms like Corero, Cloudflare, Juniper, Arista, or Ciena.

• Strong Linux expertise along with knowledge of firewall, routing, and DNS security.

• Understanding and practical experience with Network Intrusion Detection principles and tools.

• Knowledge of MPLS, BGP-LU, and SDN architectures from a security standpoint.

• Hands-on experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack.

• Comfortable with Git-based workflows and collaborative development practices.
