Staff Network Security Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Serve as a pivotal technical authority for safeguarding global network infrastructure.

• Establish and uphold network security architecture standards.

• Offer technical leadership and mentorship to security and network engineering teams.

• Oversee network security evaluations, encompassing threat modeling and intrusion detection.

• Create and implement advanced security automation and tools.

• Work in tandem with network engineers to incorporate security controls.

• Engage in incident response activities pertaining to network security incidents.

• Lead the security review process for all modifications to network infrastructure or products.

• Advocate for security best practices through documentation and collaboration across teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8-10 years of experience in network security engineering, network penetration testing, or security-oriented infrastructure roles.

• Exceptional communication skills.

• Profound knowledge of Layer 2/3/4 networking protocols (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, VRRP, LACP).

• In-depth understanding of DDoS attack vectors and their mitigation strategies.

• Extensive experience in designing and constructing secure networks.

• Proven experience leading projects and providing technical guidance to cross-functional teams.

• Proficient in scripting/programming languages such as Python or Go.

• Familiarity with network platforms like Corero, Cloudflare, Juniper, Arista, or Ciena.

• Strong Linux expertise and knowledge of firewall, routing, and DNS security.

• Understanding of Network Intrusion Detection principles and associated tools.

• Awareness of MPLS, BGP-LU, and SDN architectures from a security standpoint.

• Practical experience with observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack.

• Familiarity with Git-based workflows.
