This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Assist the USCG Ship Design Team with vessel modernization and repair initiatives.

• Design, construct, and maintain ships, boats, vessels, and associated equipment.

• Plan and supervise testing, installation, and repair of marine apparatus, equipment, and vessels.

• Perform analytical, environmental, operational, and performance assessments to create marine designs.

• Develop plans, estimates, design and construction timelines, contract specifications, and special provisions.

• Create product or system layouts, detailed drawings, and schematics.

• Assess marine equipment during acceptance tests and shakedown cruises.

• Analyze data to evaluate the feasibility of product proposals.

• Collaborate with research personnel to troubleshoot issues and develop or adjust designs.

• Examine and monitor machinery and equipment tests to ensure compliance with standards.

• Execute environmental, operational, and performance evaluations on marine machinery and equipment.

• Define test conditions, sequences, and phases of testing operations.

• Oversee and coordinate the repair of marine machinery and equipment for vessel installation.

• Draft technical reports for contractors and clients to guarantee project completion within budget and on time.

• Liaise with regulatory authorities to ensure that repairs and modifications meet safety standards.

• Supervise ships for adherence to international regulations and standards regarding lifesaving equipment and pollution prevention.


⛳️ Requirements

• Secret clearance or capability to obtain one.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.

• Degree obtained from an ABET-accredited institution.

• 2–4 years of pertinent experience required.

• Preferred 3+ years of experience supporting ACAT I programs.

• Preferred experience with federal shipbuilding or boat acquisition programs.

• Knowledge of USN and commercial ship design regulations, including ABS / NVR.

• Familiarity with HM&E systems, auxiliary systems, and technical package development.
