This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Spearhead comprehensive ML research, overseeing everything from concept development to production deployment and performance monitoring.
• Create, implement, and assess innovative techniques for aligning LLMs with proprietary clinical datasets.
• Formulate and rigorously test strategies for detecting hallucinations, ensuring attribution, and enhancing model reliability.
• Construct and maintain high-quality datasets, prioritizing evaluation design and benchmark integrity.
• Evaluate academic literature critically to discern effective methods from ineffective ones, translating the best concepts into practical applications.
• Set forth best practices for experimental design, ensuring statistically sound evaluations and reproducibility.
• Collaborate across teams with engineering to deploy models effectively (MLOps, infrastructure, deployment).
• Innovate methods for long-context and multimodal modeling, integrating both structured and unstructured clinical information.
• Provide mentorship to other researchers, helping to elevate research quality within the team.
• Enhance external visibility through publications, presentations, and recruitment efforts.
• Demonstrated success in ML research, preferably with publications in prestigious venues (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, EMNLP, AAAI, etc.).
• Proven capability to differentiate between high-quality and low-quality research, particularly in rapidly evolving fields like LLMs.
• Thorough understanding of the failure modes of LLMs, especially hallucinations, and strategies for their evaluation and mitigation.
• Experience in crafting rigorous evaluation frameworks and developing high-quality test datasets.
• Strong intuition regarding dataset quality, bias, and benchmark design, reflecting a data-centric AI approach.
• Practical experience in training large-scale deep learning models (multi-GPU/distributed systems).
• In-depth understanding of contemporary neural architectures (transformers, SSMs, encoder/decoder models, etc.).
• Proficient programming skills in Python and familiarity with ML frameworks such as PyTorch or JAX.
• Experience in deploying ML models within production systems and managing their performance monitoring.
• Effective and proactive communicator, capable of elucidating complex ideas and providing constructive critiques.
