This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Define the technical vision and roadmap for machine learning systems that support forecasting, supply positioning, and fleet optimization.
• Oversee the complete execution of intricate, cross-functional machine learning initiatives from problem identification to production impact.
• Ensure that machine learning initiatives are aligned with business objectives.
• Serve as the main technical decision-maker, establishing architecture, modeling techniques, and engineering standards.
• Mentor and develop engineering talent.
• Collaborate with product and operations leadership to formulate strategy and prioritize investments.
• Establish best practices for machine learning development, deployment, monitoring, and scaling iterations.
• Identify and pursue high-leverage opportunities while balancing immediate impacts with long-term platform and modeling investments.
• Contribute directly to essential aspects of the codebase.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code utilizing AI-assisted development workflows, while adhering to validation, security, and ownership standards.
• Transform ambiguous, high-stakes mobility challenges into actionable strategies and plans.
• Guide engineers in delivering scalable, high-impact systems that influence supply and fleet optimization for Lime’s shared micromobility operations.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in software engineering and machine learning.
• Proven track record of leading large, complex machine learning systems in production environments.
• Experience in a technical lead role or as a de facto team lead.
• Experience managing projects involving multiple engineers and stakeholders.
• Strong skills in system design.
• Experience in architecting scalable machine learning systems, data pipelines, and real-time or batch inference systems.
• Ability to convert ambiguous business challenges into distinct technical strategies and achieve measurable results.
• Experience mentoring and developing engineering professionals.
• Proficiency in coding with Python.
• Familiarity with modern machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
• Experience with data tools like SQL and Spark.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools for coding, debugging, testing, documentation, technical exploration, and analysis.
• Ability to validate AI-assisted outputs, identify risks and failure modes, safeguard sensitive information, and assess when deeper manual review is necessary.
• Preferred: experience in owning or leading machine learning platforms or systems at a company or organization-wide scale.
• Preferred: background in time-series modeling, forecasting, optimization, or operations research applied to real-world systems.
• Preferred: familiarity with experimentation frameworks, causal inference, and decision-making under uncertainty.
