Lead Machine Learning Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create, train, and assess cutting-edge models for May’s autonomous driving, simulation, and ML Platform stack.

• Utilize innovative techniques in End-to-End driving, Vision Language Action, World Model, and Foundation Model areas to address commercial-scale challenges.

• Lead small teams of cross-disciplinary Engineers to push beyond current technological limits.

• Establish data balance, training experiments, and evaluation methodologies to train effectively at petabyte scale.

• Advance May Mobility’s Machine Learning capabilities both on and off the vehicle in a large-scale commercial setting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience in one of the following areas: Vision Language Action Models, Generative World Models, Foundation Models in Robotics, or Data Centric AI.

• At least 4 years of industry experience working with commercial robotics systems.

• A minimum of 1 year of experience mentoring ML Engineers in either a commercial or laboratory setting.

• Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field requiring a solid mathematical and/or engineering background.

• Practical experience addressing the “Long Tail” issue in Machine Learning.

• Proficient programming skills in Python/PyTorch within a Linux environment.

• Functional knowledge of LiDAR, Camera, and Radar processing methods.

• Direct experience in architecting and training VLA, MMLM, or Generative World Models for commercial-scale applications.

• Experience in composing, processing, and characterizing large (>100TB) multi-modal datasets.

• Experience in analyzing and resolving long-tail failure cases in large models.

• Proven experience leading teams of 2-3 Engineers and effectively communicating technical details to interdisciplinary leadership.

• Standard office working conditions, which include prolonged sitting, standing, and computer use.

• Some travel required, estimated at 5%-10%.
