This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Define and lead the technical vision and architecture of AtomEngine, ensuring the platform is equipped to meet current and future simulation, AI, and modeling needs.
• Oversee the design and advancement of core engine systems, frameworks, and developer tools, creating patterns that facilitate effective building by multiple teams on the platform.
• Take ownership of architectural decisions that encompass engine runtime, editor tooling, performance infrastructure, and platform scalability.
• Identify and promote high-impact investments that enhance performance, reliability, maintainability, and developer productivity across the engine ecosystem.
• Spearhead complex technical initiatives involving multiple teams, aligning stakeholders and driving execution from concept to delivery.
• Collaborate with simulation, AI, platform, and product engineering teams to ensure that engine capabilities effectively support higher-level systems and organizational goals.
• Establish and advocate for engineering standards, architectural principles, and development best practices throughout the engine codebase.
• Act as a technical mentor and force multiplier for fellow engineers through design reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing.
• Actively identify technical risks, architectural bottlenecks, and scaling challenges, developing practical strategies to address them before they become constraints.
• Balance immediate delivery goals with long-term platform strategy, making informed trade-offs that enhance both engineering velocity and system health.
• Over 9 years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial experience in developing game engines, simulation platforms, or other performance-critical systems.
• Proven experience in owning the architecture and technical direction of large-scale engine, platform, or infrastructure systems.
• In-depth knowledge of game engine architecture, encompassing rendering, ECS frameworks, data-oriented design, tooling, asset pipelines, or runtime systems.
• A successful track record of leading complex technical initiatives that necessitate alignment across multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Strong experience in optimizing performance, scalability, reliability, and developer workflows in extensive codebases.
• Experience in establishing engineering standards, conducting architecture reviews, and influencing technical decision-making beyond your immediate team.
• Excellent systems-thinking skills with the capacity to assess long-term platform trade-offs and investment opportunities.
• Familiarity with modern game engines such as Godot, Unity, Unreal Engine, or similar technologies.
• Experience in shipping and supporting complex live-service products.
• U.S. Citizenship is required for this position due to federal contract obligations.
