Controls Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the electrical and controls aspects for designated projects from the design phase through to commissioning.

• Design control systems that include:

• Electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and interconnection drawings.

• Layouts and specifications for control panels (including PLC panels, MCCs, and VFDs).

• Bills of materials (BOMs) and instrument data sheets (IDS).

• Develop control narratives, cause & effect diagrams, and PLC/HMI programs.

• Review project scope while proactively addressing any gaps or ambiguities.

• Provide support for field operations, including startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and service.

• Work in collaboration with engineering, sales, and field teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality systems.

• Assist in the preparation of proposals, estimates, and technical documentation.

• Ensure adherence to relevant codes and standards (CSA, NEC, NFPA, TSSA).

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

• Over 5 years of experience in controls engineering or industrial automation.

• Proficient in electrical and control panel design.

• Skilled in creating schematics, wiring diagrams, and PLC/HMI programs.

• Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code, CSA, NEC, and related standards.
