Staff Engineer, ServiceNow – CMDB & Service Mapping

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise CMDB solutions in accordance with ServiceNow best practices.

• Develop and configure ServiceNow Discovery and Service Mapping for critical business applications and infrastructure.

• Implement and uphold CSDM-aligned CMDB architecture and governance standards.

• Configure and manage the Identification & Reconciliation Engine (IRE), along with identification and reconciliation rules.

• Monitor and enhance CMDB health, focusing on completeness, accuracy, and compliance metrics.

• Configure Discovery schedules, credentials, probes, sensors, and solutions based on patterns for discovery.

• Create, maintain, and optimize Service Maps for distributed, hybrid, and multi-tier applications.

• Troubleshoot issues related to Discovery failures, identification problems, duplicate Configuration Items (CIs), and Service Mapping.

• Build and maintain integrations utilizing REST APIs, Integration Hub, and MID Servers to enrich CMDB data.

• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Cloud, Network, Security, and Application teams to enhance CMDB data quality.

• Ensure compliance with ServiceNow development standards, governance, and security best practices.

• Lead technical discussions and design reviews, providing recommendations for scalable ITOM solutions.

• Mentor junior developers and support ongoing improvement initiatives across the ServiceNow platform.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5.5 years of overall IT experience.

• Extensive experience in CMDB, Discovery, and Service Mapping.

• Practical experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise CMDB solutions.

• Strong background with CSDM, CMDB Governance, and the Identification & Reconciliation Engine (IRE).

• Familiarity with CMDB Health, CI Relationships, Data Certification, and Duplicate CI Remediation.

• Proficient in ServiceNow development with JavaScript, Glide APIs, Business Rules, Client Scripts, and Script Includes.

• Experience using Flow Designer, Integration Hub, Update Sets, and Scoped Applications.

• Hands-on experience in configuring Discovery schedules, credentials, probes, sensors, and patterns.

• Background in developing and maintaining Pattern-based Discovery solutions.

• Expertise in Top-down Service Mapping, Business Service Modeling, and Multi-tier Application Mapping.

• Experience in integrating CMDB with SCCM/MECM, VMware vCenter, Azure, AWS, GCP, Active Directory/Entra ID, and monitoring tools.

• Strong experience with REST and SOAP APIs for integrations.

• Solid understanding of ITOM processes, enterprise infrastructure, networking, virtualization, and cloud technologies.

• ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification is required.

• CIS Discovery and CIS Service Mapping certifications are preferred.

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
