This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Develop the technical roadmap for the Reporting team, ensuring a balance between new reporting functionalities and prioritized technical debt.
• Design and manage the systems that facilitate report generation, data ingestion, and optimize query performance, primarily utilizing Python, Django, and ClickHouse.
• Facilitate technical design discussions and decisions, collaborating with engineers and stakeholders to arrive at the optimal architecture and trade-offs.
• Assess the team's most critical production and quality challenges, identify root causes, and implement strategies to minimize their recurrence.
• Enhance our data pipeline and reporting architecture to enable the team to generate more reports, utilizing a broader dataset, and do so more quickly.
• Oversee the maintenance of our admin portal and reports portal, and create new report dashboards, confidently engaging in frontend development as necessary.
• Partner with product managers, customers, engineers, and other stakeholders to convert reporting requirements into technical solutions.
• Mentor senior engineers and contribute to elevating the technical standards across the team.
• Over 10 years of professional software engineering experience, with a proven impact at a staff or architect level.
• Extensive knowledge of ClickHouse, Python, and Django.
• Proven experience in designing and scaling data-intensive systems (reporting, analytics, or BI platforms), including data pipelines, query performance, and handling large datasets.
• Established track record in leading technical architecture decisions and guiding technical design discussions across teams.
• Proficient in diagnosing systemic production challenges and implementing robust solutions that minimize recurrence, rather than merely addressing symptoms.
• Comfortable working across the technology stack, including making frontend modifications to admin and reporting portals.
• You critically evaluate your work and pose questions that enhance the product, considering both its technical implementation and its effectiveness in meeting users' needs.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to the entire team in a clear and concise manner. When issues arise, you proactively engage in diagnosing and resolving core problems. Experience in an early-stage startup is a significant advantage.
