Staff Engineer – Platform Frontend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the architecture for HighLevel’s platform UI and the shared layer utilized by other product teams.

• Manage the application shell, module federation topology, shared component library, build tooling, and performance standards organization-wide.

• Design mechanisms for failure isolation to ensure that broken or slow remotes affect only one surface, incorporating fallbacks, timeouts, and observability.

• Oversee the deployment and versioning strategy for independent releases, which includes contract testing, staged rollouts, and rollbacks.

• Enhance load performance through methods such as code splitting, shared chunks, preloading/prefetching, and a caching/CDN strategy.

• Boost runtime performance via long-task analysis, reactivity and re-render optimization, list virtualization, and memory leak diagnosis.

• Define and monitor performance metrics, including Core Web Vitals, INP, and route transition time, and enforce continuous integration budgets.

• Establish and maintain WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility, internationalization, and cross-browser support through automated checks.

• Compose technical proposals, review high-impact designs and code, foster consensus, and mentor engineers throughout the organization.

• Spearhead front-end architecture migrations using reversible steps, codemods, and adoption metrics.

• Lead application-shell contracts encompassing bootstrapping, routing, auth-aware navigation, error/loading boundaries, and cross-application state.

• Direct module federation host/remote boundaries, manage shared dependencies, singleton management, and version skew.

• Oversee the implementation of the shared component library and design system, ensuring safe and hard-to-misuse APIs.

⛳️ Requirements

• 9+ years of experience in front-end development.

• Proficient in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS at an expert level.

• Strong foundational knowledge of browser rendering/layout, event loops, network/caching, and memory management.

• Extensive production experience with a modern component framework, specifically Vue 3 and the Composition API.

• Strong experience with React, Angular, or Svelte is appreciated, provided there is a willingness to delve deeply into Vue.

• Proven architectural ownership and experience in transitioning a real codebase between architectural states without halting feature development.

• Hands-on experience in production with micro-frontends or module federation, including understanding failure modes; equivalent experience in decomposing a large monolith by other means is also acceptable.

• Documented success in optimizing large-scale, complex web applications, with specific quantified examples to demonstrate impact.

• Familiarity with modern build tooling at scale, such as Vite, Webpack, Rspack, Turborepo, or Nx.

• Working knowledge of accessibility engineering, including semantics, focus/keyboard behavior, ARIA, and screen reader testing.

• Strong written communication skills for creating design documents, RFCs, and PR descriptions.

• Proven history of mentoring engineers and effecting change across teams without direct management authority.

• Nice to have: knowledge of Node.js, server-side rendering, and contributions to open-source projects.
