This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Taiwan.
• The Staff Engineer, Mechanical Design is responsible for developing new mechanical systems/modules and maintaining existing designs.
• Conduct research on mechanical concepts and devise system solutions using 3D modeling and simulation software.
• Perform calculations and test, validate, and qualify systems, making adjustments as necessary.
• Offer support throughout the manufacturing process of the mechanical systems they have designed.
• The Staff Engineer, Mechanical Design collaborates with cross-functional teams of engineers, customers, supply chain, and project leadership to ensure high-quality and robust product development.
• Improve designs based on feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, testing, supply chain, reliability, industrial design, and simulations.
• Oversee the design, development, and implementation of technical solutions for complex projects that span multiple domains.
• Engage in project planning and scheduling activities.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to a large team of engineers.
• Review and interpret customer requirements/specifications and may serve as the primary contact for the customer.
• Evaluate trade-offs in complex systems and recommend viable solutions.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering.
• A minimum of 10 years of direct experience in mechanical design, preferably in switches, servers, storage, etc.
• Familiarity with the electronic product development process.
• Ability to conceptualize, implement, and validate a system-level design and solution.
• Solid understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, experience in plastic and metal part design, and knowledge of tooling limitations.
• Experience with product architecture, including high-level thermal analysis, EMC/ESD compliance, structural layout, and plans for verification/validation testing.
• Experience in design optimization based on FEA and CFD analysis results (structure, kinematics, and heat) is a PLUS.
• Proficient in CAD systems, specifically Pro/E Creo is required.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Fluency in both written and spoken English, with the ability to work in an international team.
• Strong teamwork attitude, alongside collaboration and communication skills.
