Staff Engineer – Growth – Verifications

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the technical strategy for Pro Verifications architecture, engineering methodologies, and decisions regarding in-house versus vendor solutions.

• Define the structure of verification services and contracts throughout the KYC/KYB process.

• Abstract KYC and KYB vendors to mitigate the risk of provider failures leading to system outages.

• Create fail-closed mechanisms and audit trails that meet regulatory standards.

• Detect and permanently eradicate recurring types of failures.

• Document and advocate for architecture decision records (ADRs).

• Uphold security and compliance standards during the design phase.

• Guide and elevate the expertise of senior engineers through design evaluations, code reviews, and direct feedback.

• Enhance verification speed, automation, accuracy of decisions, system reliability, and team capabilities.

• Frequently deploy features behind flags in small, reversible increments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Approximately eight years of experience in building and managing production systems.

• Proven history of directing the technical strategy within a domain.

• Extensive, fluent knowledge of Rust.

• Ability to work across TypeScript and React with adaptability.

• Experience in establishing architecture that supports the work of other engineers.

• Skill in designing solutions that eliminate recurring failures.

• Proven ability to enhance team productivity through patterns, tools, or mentorship.

• Background in compliance, payments, security, or any field where errors can have significant repercussions.

• Strong understanding of distributed systems, service contracts, and secure design principles.

• Experience with integrating third-party APIs with considerations for timeouts, retries, idempotency, circuit breakers, and verified backup strategies.

• Familiarity with, or ability to quickly learn, gRPC, Temporal, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, MySQL/MariaDB, Redis, and GitLab CI.

• Nice to have: experience in KYC, KYB, or fraud-related fields, including familiarity with Trulioo, Persona, or ComplyAdvantage.

• Nice to have: experience in building systems with AI integration.

• Nice to have: experience in crypto, fintech, or regulated industries.
