Staff Engineer – Data & AI Focus

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• You will deliver architectural and technical guidance by leading the development of scalable architectures and facilitating long-term technical enhancements across various teams.

• You will actively assist engineers in the design and implementation of high-quality services, distributed systems, and data pipelines.

• You will work closely with Product, Engineering, Data, and other Staff Engineers to ensure alignment on architectural choices and technical direction.

• You will assess and incorporate AI technologies that enhance systems, processes, or product functionalities, ensuring measurable outcomes.

• You will promote responsible AI adoption by establishing best practices, guidelines, and reusable patterns throughout the engineering teams.

• You will mentor engineers and foster cross-team collaboration while simplifying complexity and enhancing consistency across engineering efforts.

⛳️ Requirements

• You are currently employed as a Staff Engineer and have an influence that extends beyond your immediate team to the department level.

• You possess extensive experience in modern software engineering and distributed systems.

• You demonstrate strong architectural thought leadership and can align teams and stakeholders on technical decisions.

• You have substantial experience with event-driven systems, microservices, and architectures based on AWS.

• You are knowledgeable about data warehouse concepts, data modeling, data governance, data pipelines, and data quality frameworks.

• You have a solid grasp of AI concepts, including LLMs, embeddings, vector search, agents, and automation patterns.

• You have experience in integrating AI functionalities into existing systems or workflows, alongside evaluating feasibility, risk, and impact.

• You can communicate fluently in English; proficiency in German is an advantage.
