This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
β’ Lead the development, testing, documentation, and deployment of scalable, high-quality software into production.
β’ Gain insights into the industry, product, and roadmap to guide team strategy and organizational direction.
β’ Oversee the complete technical execution of intricate features and systems from ideation and architecture to deployment and refinement.
β’ Establish and uphold engineering principles, guidelines, and best practices.
β’ Collaborate with product, design, and stakeholders on technical decisions that align with business objectives and scalability.
β’ Manage incident resolution during the on-call rotation.
β’ Detect and eliminate project obstacles through collaboration across teams.
β’ Conduct and enhance code reviews.
β’ Facilitate team planning and design discussions.
β’ Enhance software quality, testability, operational metrics, and documentation.
β’ Provide mentorship and coaching to engineers at all levels.
β’ Be open to occasional travel to Fanatics offices and other locations.
β’ 7+ years of experience in building scalable, high-performance backend distributed systems.
β’ Proficiency in Spring, and Kotlin and/or Java is advantageous.
β’ Ability to advocate for backend development best practices and mentor others in coding and architectural strategies.
β’ Familiarity with observability practices, including logging, monitoring, and tracing in distributed systems.
β’ Expertise in Agile software delivery and process enhancements across teams.
β’ Capacity to collaborate across different teams within large enterprise settings.
β’ Exceptional communication skills for articulating complex technical concepts to varied audiences.
β’ A team-first mentality and a commitment to continuous improvement.
β’ Ability to excel in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with shifting priorities.
β’ Preferred: experience in the sports industry, gaming, and content delivery.
β’ Preferred: knowledge of Kotlin, Java, and/or Go.
β’ Preferred: experience with Kafka or Amazon SQS and event-driven architectures.
β’ Preferred: familiarity with Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform; Cloud Native, and Infrastructure as Code.
β’ Preferred: ability to work with both legacy and greenfield codebases across various languages and environments.
