Staff Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Argentina.

📋 Description

• Take responsibility for the delivery and ongoing operation of high-impact backend systems, overseeing everything from architecture to production.

• Develop and enhance backend engineering standards, processes, and technical best practices.

• Define and actively monitor KPIs related to system reliability, development speed, data quality, and error rates.

• Make architectural decisions at the system level and effectively communicate the trade-offs to both engineering and product stakeholders.

• Manage analytics infrastructure, including event taxonomy, governance, and reconciliation across tools like Amplitude and Appsflyer.

• Deploy and maintain experimentation infrastructure, which encompasses A/B testing, variant assignment, SRM detection, and the definition of success metrics.

• Troubleshoot and maintain user and identity systems for login, logout, multi-device, and reinstallation scenarios.

• Implement automated testing and validation processes to minimize regressions and operational risks.

• Introduce AI-assisted development workflows where beneficial, ensuring robust validation and safety mechanisms are in place.

• Mentor and develop 1–3 engineers, guiding technical direction and enhancing the engineering capabilities of the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in building and maintaining backend systems on AWS.

• Proven track record of delivering impactful backend projects that function effectively in production environments.

• Extensive experience in developing backend services for mobile applications (iOS and Android).

• Experience managing analytics infrastructure in a consumer or product-led company, transforming tools like Amplitude, Mixpanel, or Segment into reliable resources.

• Familiarity with RevenueCat or similar subscription management tools, as well as Appsflyer or comparable attribution platforms.

• Demonstrated success in deploying experimentation infrastructure, including ensuring the quality of A/B test data, variant assignments, and SRM detection.

• In-depth backend engineering knowledge of user and identity systems in Python or Node.js production environments.

• Proficient in SQL at the modeling level, having designed event schemas or metrics layers relied upon by others.

• Strong background in Node.js and TypeScript.

• Experience with Docker and the deployment of containerized applications.

• Comprehensive understanding of RESTful API design and implementation.

• Experience in leading 1–3 engineers, providing technical direction, and upskilling non-data engineers.

• A strong sense of ownership, strategic thinking, and a solution-oriented mindset.
