Staff Engineer, AI-Native

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica.

📋 Description

• Technical Leadership: Act as the key technical resource for the squad and the wider engineering team, ensuring adherence to best practices in architecture, performance optimization, and accessibility standards.

• Solution Design: Steer the design and architectural conversations for systems, making critical decisions regarding frameworks, state management patterns, component architecture, and design systems.

• Code Quality: Champion and guarantee the production of high-quality, maintainable, and scalable code. Perform regular code reviews and offer mentorship to team members.

• Collaboration: Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to comprehend requirements, furnish technical insights, and guarantee the timely rollout of features.

• Strategy and Vision: Play a role in shaping the engineering department's strategy and vision, introducing innovative ideas to enhance our customer-facing experiences.

• Problem Solving: Tackle intricate technical issues, develop innovative solutions, and enhance existing systems for scalability and performance.

• Team Development: Mentor and nurture team members, facilitating their growth in technical roles and careers.

• AI Enablement: Utilize AI-native tools and strategies to accelerate development speed, enrich product capabilities, and enhance engineering effectiveness throughout the software lifecycle.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 10 years of software engineering experience, demonstrating a proven ability to build and evolve complex, high-scale systems and customer-facing applications.

• Strong full-stack proficiency, encompassing expertise in:

• Frontend: JavaScript, TypeScript

• Backend: JavaScript, Java, Golang

• Proven mentoring of senior-level engineers regularly, leading to tangible results.

• Extensive experience in AWS cloud architecture environments.

• Deep understanding of modern software engineering practices, design patterns, and architectures.

• Familiarity with AI-native tools that enhance productivity and speed (Cursor, Make.com, Supabase, Netlify, Claude Code, n8n, Firecrawl, ChatGPT, Grok, Bolt, Vercel, etc.).

• Ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience in designing high-traffic web applications and scalable distributed services.

• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• A proactive owner willing to engage in coding and reviewing the work of others.

• Ability to implement customer-facing solutions that effectively address customers' genuine needs while providing exceptional user experiences.
